Kia ora koutou, Two new bus shelters in Broad Bay are about to get a fresh look. Experienced local artists will soon paint colourful murals on the shelters as part of the Peninsula Connection project. Each shelter will feature the Te Reo Māori name for the area, Whaka Oho Rahi, along with the street name. A hearty thanks to Michelle Watt from Workplace First Aid Training for recently walking a group of locals through basic CPR and how to use the AED (automated external defibrillator) installed at the Broad Bay Boat Club. [Seriously, the machine will talk you through all the steps, so anyone can use it to save a life…] This is an invaluable resource for our wee community, which we now have thanks to multiple generous neighbours’ support.
