This sub-division was created from John Styles' farm in 1876, after the death of his son, William, and the family decision to go south. Sections were sold mostly from blocks I and III. Blocks II and IV were part of the Merivale sub-division which was sold off after John Styles' death. The Methodist church was built in 1868 on land gifted by John Styles in 1863. It took 5 years to raise the money!
