A 1911 poster advertising the auction of the sections on Ross Point, is accompanied by delightful drawings of boats and ferries in Smiths Bay (now known as Turnbull's Bay) and references to "The Bathing Beaches". Advertised as "The Ideal Down the Bay Township for Seaside Residences" with "Sunshine and Unequalled Panoramic Views", the accompanying text suggests that "To sit on the verandah of your own cottage, built on one of these lovely sites, and watch the water craft of all descriptions passing to and fro and the ferry steamers passing so close that you could almost throw a biscuit on board, will be bliss indeed."
