The new Broad Bay Post Office, opened for business, October 10 1979. The building was trucked down from Oamaru using many back roads, since it was too big for the main road. It was run by Mrs Fay Byers until 1986. It closed at the end of 1987 and was trucked up Clearwater Street to number 5 in 1989.
