Highcliff Rd Closure (to 23 Nov.)
Good Afternoon
I’m writing to update you about work on the major slip on Highcliff Road that occurred in heavy rain in April. Slip repairs began in early October and are expected to be finished by the end of the year.
For part of the project, the road has been closed between Sandymount and Seaton Roads while drilling and excavation take place. The closure was originally scheduled to run for around a month from 8 October to 28 October. However, due to moving ground conditions and design changes, we need to close Highcliff Road for an extra four weeks, until 23 November.
A signposted detour will be in place via Sandymount Road. Castlewood Road is another option and heavy vehicles will be directed to use this route.
Resident access will be maintained, but people will not be able to pass the worksite, so may need to adjust their route if they would normally drive through that section of road. Access will be available from the Sandymount end up to 1299 Highcliff Road and from the Portobello end up to 1589 Highcliff Road.
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about this work. We’re aware the road closure will be disruptive – thank you for your patience and support.
Warm regards.
