By 1924, Fred Bayne had joined with Mr. Malcolm in the Peninsula Motor Service Ltd, operating char-a-bancs, which, by the look of this photo, were well patronised.
Competition meant lower prices – so the competition lasted only a short time, the two amalgamating in 1922-3. More competition developed in 1924, with the Wright brothers putting on a 20-seater from Portobello. Again, the competition was short-lived, amalgamation of all the bus services taking place by the end of 1924, to form the ‘Peninsula Motor Service’ (PMS), developing a small fleet of busses.
